Cadbury Purple Meets Modern Minimalism: A Bold Glass Splashback Collaboration with Alba Interiors

CreoGlass®

Final installation of a printed glass splashback behind the hob.

When Alba Interiors approached us with another client brief in 2024, it marked nearly a decade of successful partnership. Since 2016, our collaboration has thrived through clear communication, precise execution, and a shared focus on stylish, functional kitchens. This project was no different—except the client’s vision required a striking balance between subtle elegance and bold personal flair.

What Was the Design Challenge?

CreoGlass®

Split view showing pre-installation details for a bespoke glass splashback: the left side reveals white cable routing and surface marks, while the right side highlights a taped socket cable on a prepped wall. Both areas are measured for a made-to-measure printed glass splashback with precise cut-outs designed to conceal imperfections and deliver a seamless, high-end finish in a modern kitchen.

The client had chosen a minimalist, high-gloss white kitchen featuring handless cabinetry, black appliances, and a grey worktop speckled with silver. The brief was crystal clear: the splashback must be the WOW factor. Not just a complement, but the centrepiece.

She had a specific requirement: an inverted T-shaped splashback positioned on the back wall and mirrored beneath the central island. The goal was to create a visual tunnel, where walking into the kitchen immediately draws your eye from the island straight through to the feature wall.

Understanding the Vision: "Cadbury Purple with 100% Silver Sparkle"

CreoGlass®

Part of the Liquid Ink Collection, this bespoke printed glass splashback by CreoGlass showcases Cadbury-inspired tones in purple, blue, and copper.

The client loved our Liquid Ink collection, which gave us a solid starting point. But her direction went further—she described wanting tones of Cadbury purple and plum, infused with intense silver sparkle. The goal was ambitious: bold colours that wouldn't clash with the black-and-white palette but instead anchor the space and reflect the pendant lights above.

Bridging Art and Architecture: The Creative Process

This project needed more than just digital proofs. We arranged a live video consultation between the client and our freelance graphic designer. It took a few iterations to fine-tune the balance between vivid pigment and glitter concentration. The collaboration was key: Alba Interiors liaised with us regularly, and we aligned with the client directly for immediate feedback, reducing revision cycles and keeping the timeline on track.

Installation Day: When Vision Became Reality

As soon as the glass panels were installed, the transformation was immediate. The liquid ink design—with swirls of fuchsia, violet, and chrome sparkle—picked up the purples and pinks from the Lave pendant lights, making them feel intentionally chosen rather than decorative afterthoughts. The modern kitchen framework became a clean canvas, allowing the splashback and lighting to become a unified focal point.

Outcome: A Kitchen with Soul and Style

This wasn’t just another splashback. It was a statement of identity. The client described the result as “more than I ever imagined—it feels like my kitchen now.” Her original ask—a splashback with personality—was achieved through creative iteration, technical precision, and seamless coordination with Alba Interiors.

Why This Collaboration Worked

  • Shared Standards: Alba Interiors' design discipline perfectly complements our creative approach. Their team ensures structural readiness, while we focus on aesthetic integration.

  • Direct Communication: In this project, bypassing the typical back-and-forth shortened production time and empowered the client’s voice.

  • Design Expertise: Alba’s team recommended pendant lighting that tied into our splashback design, proving that good design starts with cohesion in mind, not afterthoughts.

Final Thoughts: Why Splashbacks Matter in Modern Design

In modern British kitchens, the splashback has evolved from a functional afterthought to a core design feature. With the right composition, it becomes a story—one that reflects the homeowner’s taste, enhances lighting features, and turns minimalist settings into high-personality spaces. This case study with Alba Interiors demonstrates exactly that.
