Fairmont Windsor Park
LED Walk-On Glass Floor
Design, manufacture and installation of a bespoke illuminated structural glass floor and matching LED feature bar for the refurbishment of Mura Restaurant at Fairmont Windsor Park.
Project Overview
A bespoke illuminated floor developed for a five-star hospitality environment
CreoGlass was commissioned by Grove Developments to design, manufacture and install an LED backlit walk-on glass floor around the new horseshoe-shaped bar at Fairmont Windsor Park. The system had to combine slip resistance, commercial durability, waterproof construction and strong image clarity while integrating with the bar joinery, lighting controls and surrounding flooring.
From concept to approved design
Working alongside Grove Developments, architects, interior designers and lighting consultants, we developed the floor layout, selected the glass specification and refined the Patagonia Green artwork before manufacturing began.
Design workshops with the client, architects and project team.
Commercial slip-resistant walk-on glass sample evaluation.
Scratch-resistant glass was evaluated but rejected due to reduced image clarity.
Digital artwork layout using a continuous Patagonia Green stone design.
Engineered for commercial hospitality environments
The illuminated floor was developed as a fully bespoke build-up combining structural laminated glass, integrated LED lighting, optical diffusion and waterproof sealing. Every layer was engineered to deliver exceptional image clarity while meeting the durability requirements of a busy five-star restaurant.
- Walk-on surface: 10 mm toughened slip-resistant glass
- Artwork: 6 mm UV printed toughened glass
- Lighting: 8 mm acrylic light guide with IP67 LED system
- Diffusion: Opal diffuser for even illumination
- Protection: Waterproof sealed construction
- Control: Dimmable LED lighting integrated with the building management system
Preparing the structure before installation
Every glass panel was manufactured specifically for the project while the site team prepared the floor recess to accommodate the illuminated floor build-up. Careful coordination between multiple trades ensured the installation programme remained on schedule.
Floor Preparation
The existing floor was excavated to create sufficient depth for the illuminated glass floor system.
Levelling
The floor was accurately levelled to provide a perfectly flat base for the structural glass panels.
Manufacturing
Each laminated glass panel was individually manufactured, printed and prepared prior to delivery.
Installation
Coordinated installation within a live refurbishment programme
The glass floor was installed in stages around the completed bar structure, with regular lighting tests and close coordination between joinery, electrical, flooring and decorating teams.
Installation began with the first illuminated panel positioned and tested.
The installation area remained active, with several trades working around the bar.
Site discrepancies were identified and resolved during installation.
Final sealing, testing and detailing were completed immediately before handover.
A striking centrepiece for Mura Restaurant
The completed installation combines a bespoke illuminated walk-on glass floor with a matching LED feature bar, creating a seamless focal point within the restaurant while meeting the demanding performance requirements of a five-star hospitality environment.
Delivered through close collaboration and technical expertise
Working alongside Grove Developments, architects, interior designers, lighting engineers and specialist contractors, CreoGlass delivered a bespoke illuminated glass floor and matching LED feature bar within an accelerated refurbishment programme. The completed installation combines structural performance, integrated lighting and bespoke architectural glass manufacturing to create a distinctive feature within one of the UK's leading luxury hotels.
